Bujoji Temple Tour
(this includes entry, walk to San Bon Sugi and light lunch)
Ascend the 423 steps leading up to the main temple whilst enjoying the tranquil forest bathing and admire the amazing platform construction built into the mountain. This temple was built circa 1154 A.D. by royal decree for the sole purpose of arduous training carried out by the shugendo priests, and its design went on to help build the famous Kiyomizu temple in Kyoto.
After descending the mountain a leisurely 30 min stroll takes you to the majestic “San Bon Sugi” which has been recognised as the tallest 3 trunk cedar tree in the whole of the country.

This is a very picturesque half day drive meandering through rural countryside to the beautiful historic village of Miyama, where you can browse through the narrow lane ways and soak up the atmosphere of a bygone era!
After lunch, a visit to the local sake brewery and then Miyama’s popular ice cream parlour, before returning back to Hanase!

Full day trip from Bujoji Temple in the morning then on down to Kyoto city to sample some exquisite hand- made mochi skewers whilst sipping refreshing tea. This little hidden gem of a business has been running in the family for 27 generations, and is off the beaten tourist track. Then stroll next door to enjoy the immaculate grounds of the local shrine and say a prayer to the gods. ( This shrine is dedicated to good business !)
